ニューエポック

ニューエポック was a neo-soul/afrofuturism band active from 2016 to 2019. The band was founded by レオナルド・チンチネッリ 長年の友人とともに Siwo (aka Simonal Bie), a Mozambican singer and beatmaker. The two first met at the iconic jazz bar ジャンボリー, where their connection during jam sessions sparked a creative synergy that evolved into a long-lasting collaboration. Nu Epoque’s distinctive soundscape blends electronic beats with neo-soul harmonies and afrofuturistic vibes, creating the perfect foundation for the soulful melodies and poetic lyrics of モニカ・ムスンゴ, a charismatic Angolan singer with an evocative, rich, and agile voice. Her addition to the band marked a turning point, leading to the release of their debut album, “Zula” (Nu Epoque Music, 2017).

The band’s live performances—at festivals, clubs, and TV shows—were vibrant and full of surprises. Each show reinvented their tracks through improvisation, highlighting Monica’s stunning voice, Leonardo’s keyboard virtuosity, and Simonal’s explosive energy as he danced, leapt into the crowd, and electrified the audience.
