Per Aria – A Concert for Piano and Light is the first solo project by pianist, producer and composer Leonardo Cincinelli, unfolding in a format halfway between a concert and an audiovisual installation, where image and sound are conceived as inseparable elements of a single perceptual organism.
Created together with digital artist Diego Suárez Bárcena !ME(NOTme), it is an intimate and personal work that places the acoustic piano at the center, both as a musical instrument and as a scenic presence.
If the piano is the solo instrument, the orchestral dimension is entrusted to light, which—closely connected to the electronic component of the music—is projected onto surfaces and volumes of smoke, generating immersive environments, suspended figures in the air, and textures that interact with the piano on both a sonic and visual level—surrounding it, bringing it into focus, transfiguring it, decomposing it.
Within this gaseous space, time expands, rhythm dissolves, and musical and visual forms become shifting matter, moving through a continuous cycle of formation, definition, and dissolution: the core of the narrative and an abstraction of a life cycle, referring equally to human existence, to the emergence and transformation of ideas and concepts, and to existence as a whole.
The title Per Aria refers to the element in which sound and image take shape and propagate, but also alludes to a suspended, open, and undefined state, somewhere between reality and possibility. A dimension that lies at the core of the artist’s vision, where indeterminacy is a complete form, where ideas remain translucent and allow us to glimpse beyond, where not fully understanding opens to a deeper perception — on a drift of haze over the infinite.
Structured around sixteen audiovisual compositions, Per Aria premiered in July 2026 at the Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture in Barcelona, with two sold-out performances.
